Sustainability in Sports and Cultural Sponsorship
The principles of our sustainability strategy also apply to sponsoring. Of the different types of sponsoring, social and environmental sponsoring have always stood for social responsibility for us and are based on the ESG principles. To this end, we have defined the principles, focal points and action guidelines that are binding for headquarters, regional offices in Austria and the CEE countries.
As Austria's largest health insurer, we focus our societal engagement on health and education, supporting young and disadvantaged people in the areas of physical activity, healthy nutrition, and mental strength.
In addition, we support initiatives that are charitable or of general interest. Our focus here is on promoting art and sports, two areas that we support both through specific projects and long-term sponsorship measures. Through this engagement, we also contribute to the implementation of two of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to which we are committed (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education).
Projects in Austria
Especially in our core market of Austria, we pursue and support numerous initiatives and events, such as the Special Olympics Austria and the mentoring program for students in cooperation with the project "Sindbad."
The Special Olympics is the world's largest sports movement for people with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Since 2021, UNIQA has been the main sponsor of Special Olympics Austria, an organisation that provides training and sports activities, events, competitions, and sports coaching for people with intellectual disabilities.
In the mentoring program, young UNIQA Austria employees under the age of 35 support students between 14 and 16 through the "Sindbad" project, helping them starting their further education. The UNIQA employees act as personal mentors to help set the stage for a successful future.
