UNIQA University – Your space to grow!

07.08.2025 4 minutes reading time

A few weeks ago, UNIQA launched its new learning platform: the UNIQA University. In today’s rapidly changing world, learning has become a crucial element for success. For employees of all ages, ongoing development is essential to stay future-ready and to adapt to new challenges. That’s where UNIQA University comes in.

We asked our Niccolò Ceci and Odaleea Iacob from Group Learning, who led the project to share valuable insights about the platform and their vision for its future.

What is the main purpose of UNIQA University, and what inspired you the most during the development of the new platform?

One of our main goals - and a constant source of inspiration - is to ensure all colleagues can be supported in gaining the skills they need to be successful in their job, today and in the future. To achieve this, we needed a unified, group-wide learning platform, to collaborate more effectively, share knowledge, and make international training resources accessible and more inclusive for everyone.
In a broader sense, this sets the foundation to a stronger learning culture that supports both our people and our business.

How did you incorporate employee feedback, such as from the regular Voice of Employee survey, into the development of UNIQA University?

The results of the Voice of Employee survey were the kick-starter of the whole project, since in 2023 it highlighted that learning was one of the focus areas for our employees. Starting from these results, we dug deeper into this need with the support of both People and Business representatives from all UNIQA countries. Their structured feedback guided us in the design, development and implementation of the platform.

What are the key features that make UNIQA University unique?

UNIQA University is #yourspacetogrow, therefore we want it to be as tailored to our individual needs as possible. It’s fully connected to our current and future digital HR landscape, meaning that it’s designed to leverage internal data to deliver the right training to the right people. Its internal engine supports our users with automation and AI-based training suggestions and is flexible enough to allow local and business customization: from personalized interfaces to different offers based on local and business needs.

This sets the foundation to a stronger learning culture that supports both our people and our business.

How does UNIQA University support employees’ personal and professional growth?

We want our colleagues to be able to learn and grow at their pace, anytime and anywhere they need or want to. This is why we are providing them with content that is diverse in terms of format, duration… and language, giving to all employees the opportunity to explore our growing catalogue to find the content that better fits their needs. And it is fully connected with NAVI, our internal platform under implementation that will support professional development and upskilling also beyond learning opportunities.

What challenges did you face during the development of the platform, and how did you tackle them?

As a Group function, our goal is to ensure a learning experience that is both globally consistent and locally (and business!) relevant. This involved a lot of alignment and discussion with all our counterparts, and finding solutions capable of satisfying all needs while maintaining a common vision and goal. Naturally, there was a strong desire to have everything at once, but we tackled this by focusing on a phased rollout, starting with a solid “basic product” (a “Minimum Viable Program”, to use some agile jargon), and building on top of it in waves to ensure both quality and sustainability.

How will UNIQA University evolve over the coming months? Are there any new features or content planned?

The main and next evolution will be to complete our vision of a groupwide platform: UNIQA University is now live in eight countries and will reach all our colleagues in the coming months. In addition to this, we are enhancing the platform with more content and diverse formats: this summer we’ll start introducing books and podcasts and more content in local languages. Furthermore, we are preparing the launch of a branded mobile app, of social learning features, of training evaluations… we are not being idle!

We want our colleagues to be able to learn and grow at their pace, anytime and anywhere they need or want to.

How do you envision employees integrating UNIQA University into their daily work routines?

We would like to see UNIQA University becoming a partner of our work, offering quick access to relevant training in the flow of work and becoming the reliable training source that employees turn to: do you need to learn how a certain Excel feature works? Go check the training pill, check the recorded webinar, or ask colleagues on the training forum! We are working in the direction of both introducing these social features and enlarging our catalogue so that this will be more and more possible.

How does UNIQA University align with the company’s strategy for continuous learning and development?

As Group People, our vision is to enable a culture of impact and high performance where empowered people and leaders are equipped with future-ready skills to embrace change and drive excellence. UNIQA University is in all of this: it enables our employees to gain the skills they need, breaks borders and silos to foster cooperation and impact, and is a tangible tool to further grow our corporate culture.

Do you have any early success stories or feedback from colleagues that you would like to share?

We received a lot of appreciation for three things in particular: the simple and friendly interface of the platform, the availability of new courses (especially language courses), and the engagement triggered by the rollout initiatives to promote the platform in our countries. A lot of participation from our colleagues is the most tangible feedback that we could hope for!
